5 Things We Learned... Antal Guszlev
Antal Guszlev pursues authenticity. If reincarnation is a thing, then he is surely a present-day Thales of Miletus: the Greek philosopher and mathematician who coined the phrase “Know Thyself”. Personally and professionally, Antal stays authentic to his talent, ethics, and life philosophy. With a specialized background in cartography, Antal serves as a Geo Data Scientist and Team Lead at Booking.com, one of the most influential tech companies in the Netherlands. His talent for collecting and deciphering detail extends further into his photography practice. Antal’s photography captures the realness of place and person. He’s a quiet and patient observer – an active flâneur - who lets an environment unfold naturally in order to capture its true personality. It’s incredibly satisfying to know someone like this works in the tech industry: Antal balances the rational and creative without sacrificing his fundamental self.
Here are 5 Things We Learned about Antal.
What made you...you?
People around me. The single biggest contributor must have been my mother. Sometimes I like to think that I am the result of the choices that I made, but then I underestimate the role of pure chance.
When are you happiest?
When I’m in the flow (as defined by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi). When I can be myself (as defined by Antal Guszlev). And when my feet are warm.
Would you rather have a muse or be a muse?
I believe it is rather demanding to be a muse and keep giving in the long run. I prefer to have a balance and swapping roles dynamically between the muse and the muse-d.
Who do you admire?
I am inspired by people who are good at what they do. Be it a managing director of a full-service art and innovation consultancy, be it a writer and mobile researcher based in Amsterdam, a philanthropist who did a long walk to freedom or a nine year old scoring a goal.
What is important?
Asking. Listening. Understanding. Learning. Sharing. Repeat.
