5 Things We Learned... Matthias Meyer
Matthias Meyer
Here are 5 Things We Learned about Matthias.
What made you...you?
Being a “Sandwich Child” and growing up close to the woods. I think being the brother in the middle gave me the freedom to develop my skills as an artist, maybe because I was always confronted with different points of view but also had enough time for myself. My parents were not into arts so much, but supported me when they noticed that I liked painting. The creeks and ponds in the forest were early subjects of my work.
I learned more about painting from Gerhard Richter and Dieter Krieg at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and as well when I was in London at Chelsea College of Art.
Ever since my wife has supported my career and helped me being the artist I am now.
When are you happiest?
I’m still happiest outside in nature, but also love having a good time with my family and friends.
Would you rather have a muse or be a muse?
The world around me is my muse and I hope I can be a muse, too.
Who do you admire?
I admire people who are open and respectful to the world around them but who are also reflecting it.
What is important?
Peace, love, education, development, live.
